SUMMARY:Tire Recycling Event (NAACP Green Project)
DESCRIPTION:The Dauphin County Dept of Solid Waste Management & Recycling and the Greater Harrisburg NAACP Chapter have partnered for a Tire Recycling Event the week of America Recycles Day\, which is held on November 15th.  Residents will be able to drop off up to 8 passenger tires for free\, at the Dauphin County Recycling Center located at 1625 S. Cameron Street in Harrisburg during business hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm starting Tuesday\, November 14th through Friday\, November 17th.  Dauphin County has received approval from the PADEP to conduct the event; as well the County will receive 50% of the costs incurred through a PADEP Act 190 grant. \nTires that aren’t disposed of properly can lead to spontaneous combustion in stock piles\, they leach and contaminate groundwater when illegally dumped and they can become homes for disease-carrying insects.   \nNote: The press release will have more information and an additional education blub about why it’s so important to dispose of them properly. \nThank you and I’ll see you tomorrow at the monthly meeting.  Any question\, please let me know. \nPeace and Blessings. \nRuby \n
